La ville de Montréal (et le Québec en général) est reconnue pour avoir une culture diversifiée et très vivante. Le magazine Billboard le prouve une fois de plus en incluant Montréal dans le top 15 des meilleures villes de musique électronique au monde.
Pour dresser sa liste Billboard a considéré l’histoire de la ville par rapport à la musique électronique, les endroits chauds où l’on peut entendre de l’électro dans la ville ainsi que sa popularité.
Montréal arrive au 15e et dernier rang du palmarès, mais seulement le fait que la ville s’y retrouve est un exploit. La métropole québécoise se retrouve avec des villes comme Ibiza, New York et Berlin.
Billboard mentionne que Montréal a une culture de musique électronique depuis les années 70 et, qu’encore aujourd’hui, plusieurs clubs comme le Stereo et l’École Privée et des festivals comme Osheaga et ÎleSoniq contribuent à la popularité de cette musique.
